Casapitti’s Love for Design

At Casapitti we love to follow and observe design and architecture events around the world. As you may know, New York City is one of the world’s capitals of design. Its history, diversity, and liveness make it the perfect spot to gather talented designers and their products from all over the world. 

From May 10th to May 20th NYCxDESIGN festival took place in this exciting city. This renowned festival showcased the talent and diversity of designs,  from national and international designers, manufacturers, and makers. It also featured design businesses and cultural and academic institutions. 

So what exactly is NYCxDESIGN?

NYCxDESIGN was established in 2012 as a non-profit organization whose mission is to support, empower and grow the NYC design sector.  Since 2013 NYCxDESIGN has held its Annual Design Festival, internationally known as the Annual Design Festival, which attracts more than 300,000 national and international visitors to the city, who enjoy different events about design and innovation, culture, inclusivity, creativity, and sustainability. Their goal is to celebrate creative accomplishments, share new ideas, and inspire through design. The festival takes place in several locations around New York City, hosting hundreds of events

This year the organization held a special edition to celebrate its tenth anniversary. 

The NYCxDESIGN stated: “This special anniversary edition of the Festival will showcase the immense talent and diversity of the city’s designers, makers, and manufacturers, along with cutting-edge design businesses and districts, and world-class cultural and academic design institutions. National and international designers are invited to participate in this milestone year to showcase their work–through group exhibitions, design fairs, consulate-organized events, international trade associations, and more. Each year, the Festival encompasses renowned trade shows including WantedDesign and ICFF, as well as immersive public design experiences like Design Pavilion, and hundreds of additional partner events across the five boroughs of New York City. These once-a-year events attract thousands of national and international visitors to the city, making for the perfect opportunity for the creative industry to unite. The most recent Festival in November 2021 included 120 events across the five boroughs with 263 participating organizations, earning a significant media reach of over 590 million. “

At the end of their Festival, the NYCxDESIGN Awards are granted to recognize outstanding products and projects from different design categories from architecture to interior, from products to accessories. It is during a virtual ceremony that winners and honorees are awarded and are then published in Interior Design magazine. 

This renowned organization also runs a year-round program that helps increase diversity, opportunity, and fair opportunities within NYC’s design community. Most events are free and some others are ticketed and managed by the hosts and organizers of the event.
