Cabinets & More

Cabinets have always been an essential piece of furniture. Even since the earliest days, in caves, man has looked for a way to save things of value. For this reason, cupboards, wardrobes and sideboards have been characterised by fine craftsmanship and have become one of the most dominant pieces of furniture in a room.

Italian cabinets that store things of values and memories

Storing valuable things has been a need of man since primitive times when cavemen kept their hunting tools in natural fissures or stored firewood in caves to avoid the rain. After early civilizations shielded food such as cereal, grains, and pulses in large airy rooms, they were often put on shelves to reduce infestation from pests.

Up to the middle of the XVII Century, only simple cabinets that could easily be maintained, were most popular in Europe and North America. With the beginning of the XVIII Century, decorative elements began to show up for cupboards, armoires and other cabinets. When woodworking became a popular hobby after the II World War, cabinets developed into a multifunctional piece of furniture with fine design.

Cabinets are basic storage units, but they don’t need to be dull. They are multi-purpose, storing cooking essentials, bed linen, clothes, and shoes. But they also mark out the personality of any room. The most intimate rooms of the house are the bedroom and the dining room and cabinets are the emblems of care; they take care of your most valuable things.

Besides concealing the essential objects of daily life that you don’t want to display, cabinets are actually a display piece themselves. With their doors and drawers carved or with a more contemporary line, our made-to-order cabinets will add personal taste to your home.

Casapitti custom-made cabinets are designed as a piece of art by our artisans who are inspired by the allure of the Tuscan landscape and the colour palette of the Renaissance in Florence.

All our artisanal cabinets, 100% made-in-Italy, are delivered with quick shipping to your door directly from our production in Tuscany, bringing instant gratification and a piece of Italy to your home.

Since the earliest days, when houses were caves and life was very basic, men have looked for a way to save valuable things: their working tools for hunting and fishing, food (cereals and pulses) or firewood to avoid the rain. Thus, cabinets have always been an important piece of furniture, even if at that time they were only shelves in-built in the caves. Later on, cupboards, wardrobes, sideboards became  dominant pieces of furniture in each room and they have been designed with care and art. They can be one of the striking points of each room.

The term ‘cabinet’ is normally referred to as a medium-to-large size piece of furniture,  storage that has doors, small drawers and open shelving.  Though, at the beginning the first cabinets were designed only for the storage of papers and valuables and they were something that you would find only in upper class houses. That is why its maker, the cabinetmaker, was usually the most esteemed woodworker, because he had to take care of a very important piece of furniture, especially around the XVIII Century, when decorative elements began to show up for cupboards, armoires and other cabinets. With the industrial revolution cabinets became more popular amongst the wider population.

Cabinets are versatile, they can store food, bed linen, clothes, shoes. With their unique design, they add personality to any room.

They are the symbol of care and love, as they embrace and store your most valuable things.

Besides storing, they can also display, as they have a mix of doors and drawers.
